Be A Cyber Saathi™ is a unique awareness program intended to empower parents and teachers to become a guide and friend by imparting practical information and knowledge of cybercrimes and trends; sensitization on issues and concerns impacting children and young adults and in better understanding the same from their perspectives.
The initiative includes awareness and sensitization on gender issues and victim perspectives. The program is intended to empower parents and teachers to be better equipped to understand and support children and young adults and also themselves in preventing and protecting against existing and emerging threats and vulnerabilities on digital platforms; understanding gender based crimes and processes to prevent and protect against the same; identifying victims in their lives and being able to become better mentors and guides for them. The initiative also places focus on the much ignored aspect of children and young adults indulging in delinquent behaviour that adversely impacts adversely their future and helps parents and teachers understand, identify and handle such issues in a pre-emptive manner.
The unique structure of the initiative designed meticulously addresses cyber safety issues in an engaging fashion. The initiative is further distinguished in its focus on gender sensitization and gender equality and thereby aids prevention of online gender-based crimes.
The program has also be structured and designed to address the communication gap between the rural youth and their parents by educating parents on the need for healthy supervision and privacy-related boundaries that are to be respected online.
This awareness program’s success is measured through questionnaires before and after the sessions and the programs will be customised for the audience.
Cyber Saathi will be undertaking further programs under this initiative through its internal resources and also with collaborations and partnerships with other Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations; Governmental organisations / Initiatives, individuals / corporates / law enforcement agencies/ Educational Institutions.
