Be A Cyber Saathi™ - Initiative for Digital Safety of Students

(Children / Young Adults) / Parents & Teachers

Be A Cyber Saathi™ is a unique initiative intended to empower each individual to become a peer mentor and friend.

This initiative of Cyber Saathi for Students (children / young adults) is unique, as it harnesses the strength of children, especially in digital spaces. With adults demitting their authority to children / young adults when it comes to mastering devices, it is important to also equip children by empowering them with knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities and also the remedies available in law for victims. Once children are empowered through such knowledge, they are capable of not only protecting themselves but will also be in a better position to be a ‘Cyber Saathi” or cyber friend who can guide those in need of help on cyber safety and on remedies.

Be A Cyber Saathi Initiative for Students (Children and Young Adults) acknowledges the strong technological capabilities of children and young adults and is structured to take the benefit of such domain knowledge amongst children / young adults by infusing knowledge of cybercrimes, threats and vulnerabilities that go hand – in – hand and guides them on remedies in law. The program has been structured to engage children and youngsters in sessions, which are not merely lectures but interactive sessions with them fully engaged in the process of learning. It thereby enables children and young adults to become peer mentors, who can not only help other children or youngsters but also adults. Further, Cyber Saathi ensures better awareness and sensitization amongst teachers and parents of children / youngsters through their perspectives and helps them also become better mentors and guides.

The unique structure of the initiative, designed meticulously, addresses cyber safety issues in an engaging fashion. The program is further distinguished in its focus on gender sensitization and gender equality and thereby aids prevention of online gender-based crimes.

The Be A Cyber Saathi™ – Initiative for Students (Children and Young Adults) also focuses on sensitizing law enforcement agencies and judiciary on the unique issues pertaining to child / young victims and handling of content pertaining to them. It also sensitizes the system to privacy and other concerns unique to children and young adults in evolving digital spaces.

This initiative’s success is measured through questionnaires before and after the sessions and the programs will be customised for the audience.

Be A Cyber Saathi Initiative for digital safety of children, young adults and teachers was launched in Banasthali Vidhyapith, Rajasthan, India along with Red Dot Foundation in February 2020. Please refer to the Programs page here
